Jose-Luis Moctezuma is an editor, author, poet, translator, historian, cinephile and student. Born in San Gabriel and raised in the desert guts of San Bernardino County, he prefers to label himself a “Californian” whenever he finds himself abroad. His chief interest at the moment is editing and writing for The Hydra Magazine, but he’ll be entering the graduate program at the University of Chicago in the autumn of 2010. At the moment he can be located in South Korea, where he busies his time drinking and writing about makgeolli, that is, when he’s not watching films and translating them into words. He is also at work on a poem-meditation on the films of Andrei Tarkovsky.
